Originally from the United States, David attended university in Japan where he acquired fluency in the Japanese language and built a successful software company, Solana Systems. David’s company attracted the attention of a new client, Rett Anderson.

Chris Lane
Co-Founder: Chief Investment Officer

Chris started his career in real estate in 2006 developing property in a booming ski resort town in Northern Japan. For over 10 years, he worked for a local Japanese development company where he was involved in all aspects of the real estate sector including property management, sales transactions, and project management. Upon moving to Hong Kong in 2011, he set up his own asset management firm to cater to his private clientele of HNW investors across Asia. As technology developed, Chris became interested in the business model of data centers and specifically how the cash flow management relates to real estate. Now, he continues provide financial services for the group as well as liaise with external private investors.

CEJ original business was to build solar plants and sell produced electricity back into the national grid at rates guaranteed by Japanese Law. Today CEJ is one of the leading Solar Energy Producers in Japan. CEJ has now expanded into wind energy production as well as continuing to build out the portfolio of Solar producing plants

Mr. David Sperling has more than 15 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, having designed and implemented several successful off grid solar and wind turbine systems.  David founded Solana Systems K.K., (www.solanasystems.com) a Software Development firm, that runs their virtual server services from 100% renewable energy from a solar and wind turbine system that he designed and implemented from the ground up.

His B.A. in International Business from Hawaii Pacific University was the foundation for his success in starting and managing various enterprises and businesses in Hokkaido Japan.  Dedicated to being able to understand the Japanese language at a business level David entered a Japanese Language only Computer Science Undergraduate program from the Information University in Ebetsu Hokkaido Japan.  After the program, David was able to create and market several large scale software systems that transact millions of dollars per year to both Japanese and non-Japanese clients.

Since Founding Clean Energy Japan K.K. with Mr. Anderson he has driven and lead the company into a successful operation, in a highly competitive space, with multi million dollar annual operations and a clear pathway for future growth. He is fluent in business level Japanese, and holds multiple accreditations from Solar Energy International, the largest authorising body of its kind in the US.

Mr. Rett Anderson is a director of Clean Energy Japan K.K. and Niseko Powder Holdings K.K. has many years experience in the construction industry in Japan and has a true passion for smart efficient energy use and has experience implementing renewable technologies is to some of Hokkaido`s most luxurious properties. Having lived in Niseko Hokkaido Japan for more than 15 years he worked as the Chief Project Director for some of Niseko Hirafu largest landmark developments, (www.nisekordc.com) including Shiki Niseko, Eco 260, Country Resort and Akazora, from 2006 to 2011.

He gained invaluable experience while working with some of Japans leading architects and General Contractors (ZENI-CON) on projects totaling more than 50 million USD in construction costs – The NisekoRDC team built a reputation for being on budget and on time and he will provide the same connections to the proven architects and contractors with many projects completed in Hirafu and Niseko and oversee the Project Management of NPH`s prime location asset into one of Niseko`s best multi use properties.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Bcom) degree from Otago University in New Zealand and is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a member of the  Project Management Institute (PMI) is fluent in Japanese, and a certified solar installer and system design technician accredited by Solar Energy International, the largest authorising body of its kind in the US.
